Here is a pure CSS solution for transparency that allows you to set the background transparency without affecting the transparency of the entire div. Woot!

There is a nice selection of pre-made animated gifs to choose from in various styles (3D, rectangular, circular or horizontal). You can then modify the colours, proportions and animation speed before downloading your spiffy new loading graphic.
